Leah finds herself pregnant outside of wedlock in a dystopian world called The United Republic of Americhinsia, where abortion is illegal and the world is overpopulated. If an unmarried woman has a child outside of wedlock, she has violated her sanctity and must marry the father or die... But the father of Leah's child is the leader of the nation, who is already married. She must lie to avoid elimination and find a way to run for her life before it's too late. Along the way, with the help of a mysterious new man, she uncovers hidden secrets about her family and the government while learning of what lies outside the border of Americhinsia, a place where married couples can only have up to 2 children, women unmarried by the age of 25 must adopt a child from the overcrowded centers, homosexuality of any kind is not tolerated, and abortion is punishable by death.
