Hershel "Lucky" Davis is a scavenger, the only one in his area. His job isn't that complex, really; all he has to do is find things in the abandoned and burned villages around the cities of Corton and Biggol. Things get a bit dicey, though, when a young girl named Rosemary Berg enters the picture. Giving Hershel no chance to say no, she makes him take her on as an apprentice.
Through many trials for both Hershel and Rosemary, the pair find out about a place that still has water: a place known as 'paradise.' Now, the only challenge is to trek through the miles of wilderness it takes to get there.
