Sunflower is only one of several women chosen from a young age to be trained as bodyguards for Queen Demetria due to her resemblance to the young ruler. Over the years the Sisters have stopped numerous assasintination attempts by King Narcissus, the ruler of a immortal race of giants whose kingdom borders their own.

During the latest attept, however, one of the Sisters manages to kill their attacker proving finally that the Deathless ones can in fact die. With this, the queen comes up with an idea to be rid of her enemy once and for all.

Demetria offers herself as a willing bride...and sends Sunflower instead with the promise that should she succeed in murdering King Narcissus, she and her Sisters will be set free of their servitude. If she can make it back alive.

"Sunflower" is a loose retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth inspired by all the many versions of the story that mention Persephone playing with nymphs in her mother's gardens before being stolen away.All Rights Reserved

It isn't until her cat dies and after picking him up, becomes alive again when she realizes why her mother has locked her away for all these years. She discovers she has the gift of healing. When she confronts her mother about it, her mother reveals to her that they are not human but in fact, Goddesses trapped inside human vessels to protect Kore from the Gods who want to marry her. But things only get worse when one day, as Kore is picking flowers in the meadow, there is an earthquake and she is taken up by this earthquake and falls into the arms of none other than Hades. We all know the story of how Hades's kidnapped Persephone from her mother and his sister Demeter, brought her to the Underworld and tricked her by eating a Pomegranate that forces her to spend half the year in the Underworld with him. While Persephone may have been reluctant to be with the King of The Underworld at first, she slowly grew to love it and her husband. Hades being the most hated God received a curse from Persephone father, Zeus, that any child Hades and Persephone had together would destroy the world as we know it. Neglecting to tell his young wife this Persephone becomes pregnant. Excited to tell her husband about the news when she gets back to the underworld, her mother let's her know of the curse that Zeus has put on the child. Demeter urges her to be rid of the child, but Persephone, Goddess of Fertility denies the request and hides her pregnancy from all. Once Persephone has the child Zeus and Hades find out, so she asks Athena and Aphrodite for protection of the beautiful little girl. They counteract the little girls curse by providing the girl with a future love so strong, it will kill the darkness inside of her. This is the story of that girl, Helena, Daughter Of Hades.
