Head Senan steps forward, parchment in hand. His question is a formality, but it feels like an eternity as he asks, "Does Prince Graysen Lennart of Kingdom North Claireden take you as his wedded bride?"

He says, "I do." The words sound too final, too sure as if he's already made his decision, and I have no say in the matter.

Then it's my turn. "Do you accept Graysen Lennart of Kingdom North Claireden as your wedded husband?"

I stare at him for a moment, meeting his gaze. I want to smirk, to let my true feelings show, but instead, I say, "I do," the words leave my lips with all the coldness I can muster. I'm playing the game. I'm doing what I must.

And as I look at him, I can't help but smirk inwardly. Good luck, Graysen Lennart. Handling me won't be as easy as you think.
