She was the girl with the lavender hair-the one who smelled like black tea, and oranges.

She was the girl with a pencil always behind one ear or twisting her hair into a knot on the back of her head- always prepared for something beautiful, or horrendous.

She was the girl always held back by anxiety and fear- never able to participate.

She was the girl who nobody knew- not even herself.

She was the girl who didn't believe in love- "it doesn't exist," she said. "It's just a facade. Drawn on the paper of fairy tales with a charcoal pencil to mask the truth. That's all love is, a kick to the ribs when it never shows up."

She was the girl with nothing- no friends, no story to tell, nothing but the pain behind her eyes and the books on her shelves.

She was just a girl.

Jude doesn't talk. He can't, even when he wants to. They don't want to hear what he has to say, and they only use their words to hurt him. So why even try anymore? Starting at a new school seems like the perfect opportunity to blend into the background, but it isn't far enough away to start over. Some people just won't let him forget about his past. The teachers don't understand. He can't tell them why. He can't say anything at all. Ross understands. Ross writes to him. Slowly, he pulls Jude out of his shell, waiting for him to say something. ----- Say Something is a story of overcoming fear with the help of friendship and love. As someone who has struggled with anxiety, I tried to do something a little different with my writing style this time by including a lot of thoughts and feelings rather than a ton of description and detail. I'd like to add that it mentions things like sex and violence but I don't plan on going into any graphic detail in this story. There is also occasional cursing. I hope you give it a chance and leave feedback for me as I post new chapters over time. Thank you so much for checking it out!
