Mike finds it hard to suppress his feelings for Will and stay with El. Will finds it hard to not be jealous. Exploring Mike and Will's relationship is a main component of this story. Will the two boys finally suppress their feelings or will their very own hearts be on the line?

It's the summer of 1986 Will Byers is currently living in California with his mother, sister and brother. He constantly feels lonely due to his friends being in Hawkins and the fact he feels so out of place in this city. Mike wheeler is in Hawkins living his usual life with those closest to him, although the only difference is his girlfriend and best friend aren't with him. After months of sent letters and no reply, Will decides to try and move on. By doing this a new person grabs his attention meaning Mike is slowly leaving his thoughts. When Mike starts to notice wills lack of letters and lack of constant phone calls, he decides to take a trip to California to see what's going on. How will this turn out? Will the two friends get on? March 30th, 1986. The day after the events of season 4. Will and Mike arrive back in Hawkins. Home. But home isn't the same anymore. Hawkins, their once beloved town, now looks more like an apocalyptic disaster. The two boys know it's them and the party who needs to save the town. However, this task proves to be difficult when new feelings emerge. Will, the kind, soft and self-sacrificial cleric, who is hopelessly devoted to his so called unrequited crush. And Mike, the loyal but sometimes rude, leader of the party, who's struggling with new emotions he doesn't know how to handle. How will they save the town? But most importantly, how is will going to be able to share a room with Mike, his life long best friend and crush?
