An eccentric billionaire from Marley, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, was dining out with his fiancée Grace in 834 to celebrate the success of his latest business venture. As the evening ended, they returned home and found eight abandoned newborn babies outside their door. Although both were shocked, they accepted all eight babies as legal children in their household.

After a year, tragedy struck the Hargreeves family. The Marleyan Government had taken an interest in their children. Both Grace and Reginald were left with the option to leave everything they had in Marley and seek refuge on Paradis Island even though their chances of survival were negative they were determined to save their children from this monstrosity.
