Life Of Mary

Here's a short one-shot story:

The sun was setting over the quiet suburban street as Mary sat on her porch, sipping a cup of tea. It had been a long day, and she was looking forward to a peaceful evening at home.

But as she glanced across the street, she noticed something strange. A man was walking slowly down the sidewalk, looking up at the houses as if he was searching for something. Mary watched him curiously, wondering if he was lost.

Suddenly, the man stopped in front of her neighbor's house and looked up at the second-story window. Mary frowned, feeling a sense of unease. She had never seen this man before, and his behavior was odd.
