In 1977, the Hodgson family begins experiencing something impossible inside their small home in Enfield, London. Furniture moves on its own, knocks echo from empty rooms, and twelve-year-old Janet Hodgson wakes in places she does not remember going, also speaking in a voice that does not belong to her. What begins as strange disturbances soon becomes something far more dangerous, drawing the attention of paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren. Back home in Connecticut, their son, Daniel Warren, has begun experiencing his own paranormal events that seem to follow him wherever he goes. Shadows move through the house. Voices whisper his name from empty rooms, and his constant nightmares become impossible to separate from reality. With himself and his parents fighting to save Janet, Daniel must confront the terrifying possibility that the entity followed him across the Atlantic for a reason.
