The royal children have finally been reunited and have joined the Resistance along with several of their close friends. Shadow, Sonic, Sonia, and Manic are determined to find their mother and defeat Eggman once and for all, but things are becoming more difficult than they thought possible as lies, distrust, and tension in the ranks threaten to break their tentative harmony. 

   Robotnik is bent on destroying the royal children, but this time with the help of a mysterious new ally that holds a personal vendetta against one of the royals.
