Aurora's life has been a relentless series of battles, her spirit scarred by years of abuse and neglect. When she's sent to live with the Russo family, she's desperate for a fresh start, yet haunted by her past. The Russo brothers - Nathaniel, Ethan, Leo, and Luca - each react differently to her presence, testing her resilience in ways she never expected.

In a household filled with mixed emotions, Aurora struggles to navigate her new reality. Nathaniel's hostility and indifference cut deep, reminding her of the pain she wants to leave behind. Ethan's flirtatious charm and unexpected kindness offer glimpses of hope, while Leo's quiet support and Luca's aloofness create a complex web of relationships.

Despite Roseline's warmth and the semblance of normalcy she pnrovides, Aurora battles with the shadows of her past, her mind a battlefield of despair and fragile hope, the new friends she makes, including a pair of spirited twins and a thoughtful boy, bring moments of light into her dark world, but the journey to healing is far from easy.

"Shadows and Light" is a gripping tale of resilience and the search for belonging. It's a story about the strength it takes to confront one's demons and the courage needed to find a place in a world that feels so foreign. As Aurora faces each new challenge, she discovers that even in the darkest times, there can be moments of light that guide the way forward.

"Nowhere is safe, you know?" Foster homes, orphanages, replacement homes, you name it, Georgia Monroe has never fit in anywhere. From a young age, she has only known that running away and constantly losing track of those that are supposed to care for her, is a way of survival. A way to escape. She hardly knows her real name, as people are constantly trying to change it, whilst all she wants to do is fit in. It's like she knows that she has a real family out there, no matter how many times people try to tell her that they either didn't want her, before explaining all the reasons why no one would want her, or that they all died, and she will never know them. For years, Georgia has tried to decipher the difference between words thrown at her in rage and due to alcohol, but as the years go by, it is harder to see the difference. It's harder not to believe the words. The words of her family not wanting her and that they may be dead, probably as a result of her sake. All she wants, is a pair of safe arms that will take the stress of her shoulders, for a little while. Only, she doesn't know how great of a deal she is asking of those that are her family. She will never understand the depth of the work that her real family has been intertwined, and maybe not living with them, has kept her alive. Has made her a stronger person than she would have been if she had grown up with them from the beginning. Georgia, though it may feel like to her, isn't the only one that has suffered. Though her brothers home may be idealistic and fit for a king and queen in her eyes, it is far from it. Behind all the luxury and money spilling from the walls, it hadn't been like that their entire lives. It wasn't easy to attain such wealth without risking a few lives here and there, including Georgia's, their sister. __________________________________________________________________ Started: 11.10.21 Finished: 21.08.22 Rewritten: 17.08.25 -
