Of Love Tales and Rabbit Tails
After six years in a progressive French boarding school, eighteen-year-old Lady Alice returns to her family's estate in Surrey, dreading the fate that awaits her-- debutante balls, an arranged marriage, and a life she does not want. She would have preferred to stay in France, teaching and writing love tales rather than living one dictated by others. My entry for ONC 2025 In a dystopian future, Javier being a class 4 citizen, is denied access to life saving medication for his daughter. Hence, he decides to steal several bottles. During his getaway, he accidentally takes an android with a special and unique feature, it's ability to feel pain. Prompt: 70. After stealing something vital from the city, you flee in a car, only to find a discarded human-like android in the back seat. Tinder and Other Tales
In 2018, I put together a simple draw to challenge myself (and anyone else who wanted to try) with flash fiction prompts made up of three suits of cards, shuffled and drawn. The clubs denoted a genre, the diamonds were an object, and the hearts were a setting. Starting with January (A fairy tale, a tattoo machine, and a prison) and drawing once a month thereafter, over the course of a week with no more than 1,000 words, the idea was to write a flash fiction piece using those prompts.
