Summer is coming to an end, and the girls are getting ready for college. All except one, Sunset Shimmer, who feels anxious and uncertain about her future. But before she can figure things out, a new problem arises: their magical geodes have begun mysteriously disappearing one by one.
(Based on the unused story concept by Nick Confalone for Equestria Girls) While the girls face this troubling mystery, another truth lingers in the background. The powerful ancient Equestrian spell Sunset once cast to open the portal created an imbalance that was never fully resolved. Her arrival in the human world displaced someone, an innocent character we've never seen, yet whose absence is felt every time Sunset is on screen.
In this version of the story, we'll finally uncover what really happened to the human Sunset Shimmer.

But one night, they all uncover a magical world, where they can dance to their hearts content. Starlight finds herself falling in love with a fantastical movie world she doesn't want to leave. But like with the golden pavilion, all good things had to reach an ending. And in the case of the movie, they have to stop Rowena before she poisons Randolph and takes over the kingdom.Complete

Princess Annika loves skating and has recently adopted the polar bear cub Shiver. Unfortunately, her overprotective parents don't want her, Sunset, Applejack, Rarity, or Pinkie outside skating again. After all, not only is Rainbow Dash, Twilight, and Fluttershy are missing, and according to Pinkie's movie knowledge, Brietta, an older sister Annika is unaware of, is missing as well. However, today was Annika's birthday, and she sneaks out with her friends to celebrate at the rink with everyone. It's around that time that the sorcerer Wenlock strikes, coming in and asking for Annika's hand in marriage. When she refuses, he proceeds to turn everyone but Annika, Shiver, Sunset, and Applejack to stone, and says that if Annika doesn't marry him in three days, they're stone forever. Quickly, two pegasi and an alicorn fly in scooping up the three humans. In shock, they realize that Annika is riding a Pegasus (Brietta), but the more horrifying discovery is that Applejack is on Rainbow Dash and Sunset is on Twilight. Together, the three ponies and humans (and Shiver) fly to Cloud Kingdom, where they meet the queen Rayla, and explains that Wenlock had transformed Brietta, Fluttershy, Twilight, and Rainbow Dash to ponies, with Twilight being an alicorn despite having transformed into a unicorn just three movies before. The only way to break all of Wenlock's spells is to create the Wand of Light, created by a measure of courage, a ring of love, and a gem of ice lit by hope's eternal flame. They fly to the Crystal Palace, where they learn how the flight goes: they open the First Blush of Spring, which will reveal the first rainbow for the fairy world. Fail, and Fairytopia is doomed for ten years of bitter winter. Slowly, all fourteen apprentices get to know each other, with Sunburst, Elina, Rainbow Dash, and Applejack becoming the most competitive towards each other. But it's not like things can go perfect for long. In fact, Elina, Linden, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy accidentally get Laverna out of her frog form, and things get even weirder when Sunburst suddenly starts acting nice.
