In the year 2048, over a thousand children wake up after a journey they can't remember, only to discover they are in a mysterious cell-like room, with no memory of how they got there. They realise their only chance at escape is to compete in the 500 Games, a brutal, torturous, life-threatening championship, soon to be regarded as infamous and the cause of many, many deaths. Who will be able to escape and uncover the terrible truth of who put them there and why? Who is brave enough to show courage, compassion, agility, skill and sacrifice to have a slim possibility of survival?

Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? The company wants Ellie to go and find the kid, and Ellie doesn't know if she can. The one rule she's stuck to all her working life is to never to go to America, but now she might have to. She will have to, if she wants to save the daughter she hasn't seen in years.
