Eddie quickly backed away, Steve's hands falling to his sides as his face dropped, but only for a second. Eddie didn't notice as he held eye contact, trying to remember how to speak, his cheeks flaring. 

"Yeah... Yeah, I'm good, man."

He grabbed a movie from the shelf, not bothering to look at it.

"See, got my movie!"

Steve looked at him, doubtful about his confirmation, but let him go nonetheless. 

"Enjoy it, Munson! It's a new release!" Steve called as the flushed metalhead scurried to the desk.

He hastily grabbed ABBA: The Movie and rented it along with the horror VHS. He thanked Robin quickly, making no retaliation to Steve's remark, instead running out the door and into his van, speeding home.

Oh, he was most definitely, royally fucked.

Inspired by a short animatic and AU by @jess_celeste_21 on IG, where Steve can sing and Eddie overhears. He falls head over heels ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) for the maternal man because of this. SMUT WARNING!

While the music Steve sings is Joe Keery's actual music (yes, his stage name is Djo), Djo is not canon in this AU, the songs are Steve's music and he writes them and learned guitar in his spare time because I say so, and he has a lot of free time (fork you, steve's parents).

I know that Stranger things takes place during the 80s and that it wasn't very LGBTQ+ friendly during that time and that being trans wasn't as easy as it is today (as a trans man myself I am well aware that it still isn't easy at all but compared to the 80s it is easier) so I am sorry if it isn't super realistic, but the story is stranger things based either way so it cant really be realistic anyway.

A lot of angst probably. Eddie is in his last year of school, he is the leader of Hellfire, he's openly Gay and pronouns are He/Him. He lives with his uncle Wayne and doesn't go out much except for Hellfire and Corroded Coffin. Steve Is working at family video with Robin, he's unlabelled and pronouns are He/Him. He works a lot and hangs out with Dustin and the kids, and occasionally Nancy. Both Steve and Eddie find themselves going to the pep rally at Hawkins high and Dustin introduces them, while Steve is a little jealous of Eddie for being friends with Dustin he doesn't completely hate him, however Eddie, starts to develop a crush fairly quickly but is certain Steve is straight and uninterested It's kinda slow burn kinda not? I try to put trigger warnings im at the beginning of chapters but sometimes i forget so possible trigger warnings are, SH, Hospital, death, depression, anxiety, ED, violence, language, sexual references, Homophobia

Depression has really started to hit in the last couple of years after all of the tragic losses to the upsidedown. Nearly losing everything and everyone he's cared for and loved. Most everyone has gotten their chance to escape, Nancy and Jonathan moved to California after graduation. Robin's off at college. Until he realizes maybe he's not so alone here, sparking a true friendship with the most unlikely person, Eddie Munson. Eddie(22) hasn't been able to get out of this town either after swearing he would get the hell out of here many years ago. The kids are all graduating this year, which will most likely end up giving the two now men, no reason to stick around anymore. But what will happen to the two friends when Steve realizes the feelings he's thought for so long to just be a platonic friendship have always been a little more?
