Clover Tate has been working at Stafford Investments for nearly two years, and in that time she and coworker Jay Sommers have barely spoken to one another. Jay is arrogant and self-centred and Clover can't stand him. But now that their company is planning to acquire a smaller investment firm, they are being forced to work together on the acquisition.
Jay's nonchalant attitude clashes with Clover's strict (some might say uptight) work ethic. But working closely with Jay turns out to be more interesting than Clover had envisioned, and it doesn't take long for their bickering to turn to banter.
The more time Clover spends with Jay, the more she begins to understand and respect him. But when she realizes that it might be more than respect that she feels for him, her anxiety takes over and she closes herself off from the possibility of them becoming anything more than coworkers.
