"Heiress" is about the rise of a corrupt businesswoman named Delphine Blake who sacrifices her individuality and her integrity in her pursuit of absolute power. Shunned by her wealthy family because of her failure to either pursue formal education or marry, Delphine, (formerly known as Rose Watling), struggles with her mental health and substance abuse. She tries and fails to stake a place for herself in the San Francisco Bay Area, and she learns quickly enough that the society she encounters aims to crush differences and mold anomalies into conformity. Rather than accept herself and be true to her capricious, unique nature, Rose extinguishes this part of herself, and she kills all that was decent and humane about her in order to become the commercially flourishing, callous persona of Delphine Blake. With the help of a hefty inheritance, Rose changes her name to Delphine and buys the company she works for, a prestigious PR company where appearances are valued at all costs.
