It stings to have been abandoned by a friend six years ago, but it's agonizing to discover that friend working as a slave in your father's mineral mine. Zak saw his pal laboring there, looking helpless and dejected. They briefly locked eyes, and his friend's once-bright, joyous green eyes are now dull and hopeless.
