Packing up with her young son, Hadley travels to live with her aunt in Graystone. A town that is flourishing thanks to the gold rush and surrounding mines that provide the residents with their livelihoods. 

Beginning to settle into a life that is less prosperous than she is used to, Hadley has heard the name of the family that own the large ranch on everyone's lips since her arrival.
