Ayanokoji and some of his classmates wake up in a room devoid of color. He immediately realizes that he has been forcibly returned to the scene of his childhood. And before enrolling to school, he decides to also read a little bit of social behavior books. Something he probably didn't do in the LN, Anime or Manga. (Also, when it says he smiles, he doesn't, he just thinks he does.)

Ayanokoji having destroyed all of the relationships he had created over the last three years at ANHS because of transferring to Another Class and in doing so being shunned by the first woman he had ever fallen in love with stepped out of ANHS having graduated as a member of Class A. He had bet everything on losing to Horikita and Koenji but in the end, he once again won. He had resigned himself to returning to the White Room when suddenly his eyes felt strange so he rubbed them.
