"Our feelings have been frozen together for the past ten years, and now they are finally beginning to thaw out." Adrienne Henfield has a dilemma. Her hometown, Thurston, in the middle of the beautiful state of Alaska, is beginning to expand into territories uncomfortable with the locals. Not only is it beginning to become a tourist attraction for the cold seekers, huge resort companies are beginning to plant their ground in the yearly thick snow. The sad thing is her father, being the mayor of the town, commends these actions. He wants Thurston to thrive and become known around the world for the pristine, vast area. Useless to changing his mind, Adrienne tries her best to go on about her life. Her chores, occasional reality T.V. show watching, and doing her job over at the used-to-be-life-of-the-town coffee shop, Bastille. It isn't until a familiar face plants his feet down in town for the first time since ten years ago on the first day of summer with his hopeful architect of a father that she begins to take a stand.

A voice asked. "You'll catch a cold, why didn't you take your jacket?" I spun around, and my eyes locked with Marcus's eyes. "Hey," I said, my voice a little trembling from the cold, and I wrapped my arms across my chest, my shoulders stiffening. I had not expected that it would be so cold. My fingers dug into my sleeves, and I shifted my weight from one foot to the other, trying not to shiver too obviously. Marcus didn't answer right away. He just looked at me for a second, then stepped forward. Silently, he slid off his jacket and placed it over my shoulders, and I ensnared it tighter around me immediately. It was still warm from his body. The inside smelled... citrusy?
