Chasing Sunsets is a multi-generational story that begins in Germany at the end of WWII, and ends on the pages of the New York Post in 2013 and has been referred to as, "The Notebook" meets "Sliding Doors."
The story is told via 30-something New York-based lifestyle publicist Sarah Emma Redding, the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors Charlotte and Frederic Rosenthal and the daughter of Gabe and Sophie Redding. After a martini too many, Sarah Emma has a moment of uncharacteristic vulnerability and opens up to Liam, a journalist she'd been quietly crushing on. She shares that her life took a dramatic turn following the recent passing of her mother and family secrets that came to light shortly after. Intrigued, Liam coaxes Sarah Emma to share more details. The next night, over dinner, she begins her story, in 1945,at a displaced persons camp in Germany, where her grandparents met. As the story of the past unfolds and bleeds into the present, it explores the long shadow cast by the Holocaust, family dynamics, the paths of twins separate lives that become intertwined, class and social issues. But ultimately, it's a story of different kinds of love.
