Leah Clearwater didn't think your life could completely change in one day.
But, that's what happened.
March 15th, Leah's parents are killed in a car crash. A "tragic accident" they're calling it.  No one else in her family can or is willing to take her, so she moves in with her mom's close family friend, Carol, who happens to be the mother of her best friend, Jesse. Amongst all of the tragedy, living with her best friend seems to be a blessing in disguise. However, things start to get complicated when she starts to catch feelings for her best friend's brother, Vince; if Jesse knew, all hell would break loose. Not to mention her jealous ex, Alex, who's obsessed with getting her back and making sure she doesn't date anyone else. And, the overwhelming depression and anger over losing her entire family.
She's in for an interesting year.
Death seems to be a reoccurring trend in Leah Levson's life; first she loses her family in a car crash which forces her most dreaded nightmare to come true. Leah is placed into care, she has to fight her own inner demons while trying to make friends after the death of her old ones and navigate her way around a new school. Secondary school is hard enough. Then as she tried to cope with one traumatic event another one strikes; her friend commits suicide. Bad things come in three right?
When the blame starts to be directed onto her and with the cloak of guilt covering her after the way their friendship was left, Leah embarks on a mission with the help of her new best friend Roxy to uncover the truth and solve the mystery surrounding David's death and to prove to not only the ones blaming her but also to herself that she is innocent and played no part in his death. She needs to find closure if she is ever going to recover and move on.
Only when the verdict of suicide turns in murder does she realise just how tangled she is in a web of bare-faced lies, broken promises and deceit. With the culprit determined not to be exposed and closer than she thinks, for Leah untangling the web will make her question her trust in those closet to her. As she soon discovers it's not only her hiding a secret; everyone hides something.
