After losing the man who had finally managed to spark something in Steve's heart, Steve has been unable to sleep without seeing visions of horrible things. One night things change though when a red-eyed creature taps at his window and whispers a familiar phrase.
Warnings:
This story will contain some gore, I'll add more warnings as anything else pops up. There will also possibly be violence, talk about d3@th, light sexual references. There is talk of depression, anxiety, nightmares.
Time period: This story takes place nine months after season 4 (so that would be late December) but I forgot to do the math while writing it until now so forgive me for that pls :(.
For the sake of keeping the characters in Hawkins I'm pretending the "earthquake" barely affected much of the town, the Upside Down isn't taking over as much as it is at the end of the show.

Steve(21) Hasn't had a chance to leave this awful place. He has stayed around for the kids, wanting nothing more to be there for each one's graduation. Confused. Lonely. Depression has really started to hit in the last couple of years after all of the tragic losses to the upsidedown. Nearly losing everything and everyone he's cared for and loved. Most everyone has gotten their chance to escape, Nancy and Jonathan moved to California after graduation. Robin's off at college. Until he realizes maybe he's not so alone here, sparking a true friendship with the most unlikely person, Eddie Munson. Eddie(22) hasn't been able to get out of this town either after swearing he would get the hell out of here many years ago. The kids are all graduating this year, which will most likely end up giving the two now men, no reason to stick around anymore. But what will happen to the two friends when Steve realizes the feelings he's thought for so long to just be a platonic friendship have always been a little more?
