A Dream of Love short story.

"Amyce!"

My Grand Uncle interrupted me in the concluding paragraph of the Parliamentary debate which I had been reading aloud to him for the last hour; "Amyce, tell Butterworth to have the Alcove room prepared for to-morrow-I expect company."

Never before in my short life had such a direction been given to me, and I dropped the "Times" in astonishment, and glanced inquiringly up in the old man's face. If I had not stood in habitual awe of him, I should have poured forth a throng of eager questions.

We were sitting together in the old library at Cloyse Towers; my great uncle, Sir John Cloyse, a shrivelled, yellow-skinned old man, with prominent features and beady black eyes, crouching into the corner of the old-fashioned, high-backed chair which stood close to the fender: and I,-a sandy-haired girl, whose pallid face and grey eyes laid little claim to admiration,-only separated from him by a small round table on which rested a pair of ponderous silver candlesticks.

"Sir here is your card. I'll head to my room. Good night sir, Ms. Collins Have a wonderful night" He smiled at her and Jane replied to him with a beautiful smile. The smile I've been dying to see. Suddenly the smile faded when she saw me staring at her. "Where's my key? I need to rest" She asked John before he left and that question brought a goofy smile on my face. "Sorry Ms. Collins, but Mr. Greenwood said you both will be sharing the penthouse" The shock on her face made me want to laugh out loud but her gaze was. If only her gaze could kill. I'll be 6fts down by now. "What!" She yelled. "Came down Jane. It's not as if we're going to share a bed" I replied nonchalantly. But that won't be a bad idea. "You're unbelievable. You perv. Can't I have my space? Gosh!" She said angrily. John noticed the tension between us and decided to walk away. He was about to leave but Jane stopped him again. "John why don't you share a suite with Mr. Greenwood and I'll take your room," She said smiling like she just solved a puzzle. John turned to look at me and I gave him the ' say yes and I'm gonna kill you' look. "Ms. Collins, don't worry you're going to be fine. Bye!" John said and rushed to his room. Good choice my friend, good choice. I turn to face Jane with a smile of satisfaction. "Ms. Collins, I guess you're stuck with me," I said making her clench her teeth. "Am I allowed to sleep in the hotel's washroom? Trust me the last thing I wanna do is to share a space with you" She said and walked towards our suite. We got inside and our luggage was brought up almost immediately. Jane took her luggage and entered her room without saying goodnight. "Goodnight to you too. Don't forget we have a meeting at 8 am," I said out loud for her to hear and she shut her door with force making a loud bang.

Andrew Pennington is tired. He's been frontman for the very popular band Manderley Dreams for years, and the constant touring, the hotels, the planes, even the girls, have all started to look the same. He wants the ride to stop, just for a while, so he can relax, and maybe smell the flowers. So he buys a country estate, a place he can retreat to, for a little peace and quiet. Unfortunately, Langford, his "retreat," comes with a gardener, and a daughter, Chiara, who's opinionated, noisy, contrary, and always around, a thorn in his side girl who just rubs him the wrong way. She bugs him, you know? 🌹🌹🌹🌹 "Smoother? What the devil does that mean?" Drew could feel his hackles rising. People didn't treat him this way, especially not after they knew who he was. "You know, in photographs you're usually clean-shaven, and your clothes are less--rumply," she said. "You're all stubbly, and your shirt and trousers look like they've been folded up in a cupboard for a long time, and your hair--" "Right, right, hammered shit, I remember, you can stop," Drew interrupted, raising his hand. "Just let me use your phone to call someone, and you'll be well quit of me, yeah?" She handed over her phone wordlessly, and Drew looked at it, racking his brain for a phone number. Any number. Shit. He looked over at the girl and bit his lip. "I don't usually have to remember numbers, I just click on the name, you know?" She continued to stare at him, eyebrow raised. Drew stared at her. She was beginning to seriously annoy him. He finally looked up the number for his car service, and called them. They'd be there in two hours. Great. He looked at overalls girl, who'd gone back to her gardening. He tapped her on her shoulder and she turned around, with the flowered hat turning even wider on her head. He handed back her phone and turned to go wait in front of the house. At least his headache was abating. "You're welcome," she called, shaking her head. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 Cover by @n

"Care?" Tubbo's sleepy voice projected through her phone's small speakers. Her attention was then focused on why the boy was awake instead of the book in her hand. She'd read the book enough times to know exactly what it said and what was to come next anyway. "Why are you awake? It's five in the morning for you." Caroline asked, voice a hushed whisper as to not wake her parents and siblings. The hour had just bypassed midnight. She hadn't even noticed, being too engrossed in her book. "I had a rather frightening nightmare." The boy whispered, almost as if he were embarrassed. Her eyebrows furrowed in concern as her head cocked to the side. She slipped a small sticky note into her book as a bookmark and shut the book gently. "Wanna talk about it?" She asked, desperately wanting to hug her best friend and comb her fingers through his dark hair to calm him. "Not really, but could you talk to me about your book? Your voice seems to relax me." His voice was muffled by the pillow but not enough that she couldn't hear. She hummed in agreement with a small smile, pushing her book to the side. She walked to her bed and started explaining the details of her favorite book, Deathly Hollows. The boy had learned more about the books from the American girl than he had from the movies or than he ever would if he were to read them. He admired that about her. ---- Tubbo meets a girl through his best friend's girlfriend. She was absolutely lovely in every way. Beautiful, smart, kind, caring. Seeing her come near, Sir Steven felt confused. He unintentionally stepped back and found himself bumping into the counter behind him. Eva couldn't help but grin, feeling some of the tension dissipate. Sir Steven joined in with a small chuckle. 'Have you had dinner?' Eva asked again, stopping in front of him. 'Yeah, I had dinner with my Professor.' Sir Steven replied in a soft voice, his eyes locked onto hers. 'Eva I' he started to say again when Eva moved closer to him and putting a finger on his lips gently, said, 'Shh. Don't say anything.' Sir Steven was left in a state of amazement, his heart pounding in his chest. He remembered the time he had confessed his feelings to Eva and gazed into her captivating eyes. He had said the same thing then. Her finger on his lips was enough to make his heart beat uncontrollably. 'I realized today, that I never responded to you when you told me about your feelings.' Eva said in a low voice to avoid waking anyone up. The lights in the kitchen were dim already, as Sir Steven had not turned on any extra light. Removing her finger from his lips, Eva placed her hands on the countertop behind Sir Steven. Standing on the tips of her toes, she leaned closer to his ear, and confessed, 'I love you too, Steven.' Sir Steven felt a jolt of electricity surge through him at her words. It was the first time Eva had taken his name, and it made his heart race. His breath quickened as he processed the powerful confession. As Eva began to straighten up, Sir Steven couldn't resist the overwhelming surge of emotion. He swiftly placed his hand on her back and gently pulled her back towards him. With his other hand, he tenderly grasped the nape of her neck and drew her closer, their lips meeting in a fervent kiss.

She had backed away from me as I tried to touch her. I had been needing her touch more and more. "Why are you so afraid of me?" "What are you talking about?" She nervously giggled as she crept backwards. "I have notice a few things and well you cower at my touch. Tell me Anna, do I frightened you?" Have I in someway? I wondered. "No, uncle," she stepped closer to me pressing her palm on my chest proving that she is not the least bit frightened. "You don't scare me one bit." Her lips were smiling but her eyes had told me a different story. "The prove it." I was now leaning as she had licked her own lips. Fuck I want to taste those lips. "How."
