The first time they meet, Ruby time-travels to London 2017, is to investigate disruptions in the timescape. She enrols in Nash's school, hoping to investigate his area under the guise of a normal girl, senior time travel agents her "parents". Nash wasn't supposed to find out what she was. It had never happened before.
Despite her reluctance for his help at first, Ruby feels herself becoming attached and lets him aid her on her mission. That was a mistake. Ruby ends up falling for him faster than she can solve the problem.In the midst of a unexpected disruption explosion, Nash dies, but not before setting Ruby's watch so she travels into a different timeline.

Ruby finds herself meeting Nash, again. Racing against time and her heart, Ruby fights, travelling from timeline to timeline, trying to save the world, and Nash's life.
