The Magic Bookshop

Aiden Russell is a bright, imaginative, and creative twelve-year-old boy, who is just on the verge of becoming a teenager. But he is being bullied relentlessly by the gang who rule the council estate known as 'The Playground' in which he lives with his beloved mother. His parents have just got divorced, and it has turned Aiden's once happy and secure world upside down. The hurt and confusion he feels about this leads to, the once confident, easy-going boy to become more sullen, quiet and introverted, making him easy prey for the gang.
When a bewitching new resident, the beautiful and intriguing flame haired girl, named Ruby Tuesday moves onto the estate with her mother, (who is a massive Rolling Stones fan.) Aiden and Ruby immediately form a close friendship. But Ruby and her mother are seen as outsiders here in a tightknit community that already has a strong dislike and distrust of strangers.
The fact that Ruby's mother owns a 'Real Magic Shop' full of odd and wonderous curiosities does not help them to fit in. Could these two newcomers be practicing witchcraft?
The bond between Aiden and Ruby is tested by the fear and hysteria from a community that is suffering from the shock of a recent spate of occult-like and grizzly, murders.
