Fire-everywhere. All I see is that fire burning mercilessly a house which I have no idea to whom it belongs... Yet I find myself crying, sobbing even when I wake; too weak to move. This nightmare kept on haunting me ever since I went back home here in Catbalogan.
Elliott gave me one strange vial. At first, I thought it's just one of his sweet-nothings with an ordinary breakable vial.
Only to find out that the message in this fragile glass can be the one that could break me.

I ran downstairs into the living room, my heart pounding as I found all my brothers gathered around Nefeli. Her eyes were frantic, scanning the room, desperately searching for me. The scream that bastard had let out earlier must have reached her... The moment our eyes met, she practically threw herself at me, wrapping her arms around me so tightly I could barely breathe. I stood frozen for a moment, unsure of what to do. I hugged her back anyway... Even though I had no idea what was going on. "Thank God you're safe" she murmured in my ear, her voice trembling, leaving me even more confused. I glanced at my brothers. They all looked just as lost as I was. Except for Aiden and Alex. They were motioning for me to hold on. "Of course I'm okay, Nefeli. What happened?" I asked, my heart tightening. I hated seeing her like this, so worried and panicked. "I-I heard Alex and Aiden talking in Italian!" she stammered, her eyes wide with panic. "They said something about the Mafia! Are we being threatened by the Mafia?" Her voice cracked, and tears threatened to spill from her brown eyes. The room fell silent for a moment. My brothers exchanged looks, and then, without warning, we all burst into laughter. Nefeli stared at us, completely confused. Cole, finally calming down, wiped his eyes and looked at her with a smile. "Love" he said, his voice smooth, "we're not being threatened by the Mafia." he let the words settle in the air for a second. This is going to be weird. At first at least. I haven't talked to you in over a year, but the teacher said we should use this diary to express our emotions and the only one I could ever be one hundred percent honest with is you. Those letters to you are worth 25% of my final grade so I must find some interesting things to talk to you about. It's going to be good for me too. It'll help me move on. Help me live my life again. I just hope that it will get easier because for now, just imagining talking to you every week brings it all back, all those feelings. I still hope that, one day, you will read those letters for real. That they won't just be a way to keep you in my mind. I'm not stupid, I know that you will never read them but imagining that you will helps me write what I really want to say. My mother always warned me against playing with dangerous things-fire, drugs... love. She'd say it with a sternness that let me know she'd seen firsthand what those things could do to a person. But I was never one to listen blindly. I always wanted to see for myself, to feel the burn, to taste the danger, even if it was only once. "Mi tell yuh, wah sweet nanny goat a guh run him belly," she'd say, eyebrows raised and finger pointing, reminding me that sometimes the sweetest things come with a price you don't want to pay. But curiosity has a way of twisting the mind, making you think you can handle what others couldn't, that somehow the fire would feel different, that the flame wouldn't burn quite as deep. So I stepped into love, heart first, thinking I could hold on to just the sweet without tasting the bitter. But love-it's the trickiest one of all.
