When a young man, Arthur, a struggling writer who is forced into a full-time barista job at his local coffee shop, meets a young woman, Scarlett, also an aspiring writer, the two become friendly and draw an instant spark as she starts to become a more frequent customer at the café. In Arthur's timely observation of Scarlett, he becomes more aware of their strikingly similar traits and senses something that makes Arthur feel a slight unease about her. Something about her is familiar to him and yet nothing like he's ever seen in a woman before. This story depicts the unfortunate soul crushing journey of the two's connection and an unravelling of the mystery that hides behind Scarlett of which only Arthur can sense. Why does it seem the two can never be together?
