It is now modern day, Mobius. Sonic, who is still at the young age of 19, is going out for a year anniversary dinner with his girlfriend, Princess Sally Acorn. After a successful evening, the two pick the wrong day for a stroll.
Sally and Sonic are randomly attacked in the middle of a crowded park. An unknown team of agents capture Sonic, along with Sally and Silver. Why are they taken? And who are these agents?
But they don't know... There is more to this attack than meets the eye.

'Common Enemy' [Sonic 3 Inspired Fic]
Having come from Mobius, a once thought-to-be fictional world in which all of the Classic "Sonic The Hedgehog" characters live, a new super-powered, female Hedgehog arrives on Earth, looking to run away as she was being tracked down by echidna warriors. She soon finds herself hiding amongst the forests of what she later learns is "Green Hills" Montana before being spotted by another Hedgehog. As well as his family consisting of a two-tailed fox, echidna and two humans. Tom and Maddie. They get to know each other a bit, explaining each other's stories before being grouped together by an organization titled "G.U.N." and introduced to a new common enemy amongst the newly formed underdogs group, Shadow The Hedgehog. The group all go through highs and lows to keep this new common enemy at bay before a saddening past is revealed. The new female hedgehog makes it her new mission to keep this new enemy, who is swayed by heartbreak and pain and being used for something far greater beyond just simple revenge, at bay with hardened banter, endless ass-kicking and terrible, downright awful flirting and talk-me-downs before being discovered to hold a great power, one similar to the black and red hedgehog she was tasked to keep busy alongside others. Then, a new, odd, love-hate relationship starts to form between the two hedgehogs. It sparks and flares just as a huge revelation comes to light which requires the strengths of all 'alien' hedgehogs, humans, foxes and echidnas alike. All of the furry, non-furred and spiked friends then team up and take down those who deceived and manipulated. After sixteen years, Mephiles has returned. Darker and more power hungry...after failing to defeat and kill Shadow, Sonic and the rest of the gang, he Is going to make sure he gets what he wants this time, by using the power of the chaos emeralds,He infects Shadow with a rabies like disease, called Muskiomal which makes Shadow a ruthless cannabalsitic killer at nightfall. Not only does Mephiles turn Shadow into a killer hedgehog, he forces him to take out revenge on not only on on Mobians but the entire universe as well. But only Amy Rose is aware of Shadow's illness after witnessing Shadow consuming human and Mobian remains behind a restaurant dumpster. Amy vows to keep Shadow's condition a secret not only for the safety of Sonic and the gang but for the universe...but if G.U.N finds out the ultimate life form and their top agent as dangerous... it could result in him being held captive, being detained against his will and experimented on as long as possible. Despite the life threatening situation, Shadow and Amy's connection grows closer and closer which ultimately leads to them having an affair which eventually leads them to being together, much to the disdain of not only Sonic, but to the entire group, unfortunately, it later becomes a weakness which will give Mephiles a possible one up against the team Will Amy and the rest of the crew find a cure for Shadow's condition or will he forever be Mephiles' murderous puppet?
