Varien never really cared. She let it slip though her fingers, despite knowing what it would lead to. It started with pain, so much pain. And she pushed it away. Tried to forget. But that's the thing about pain... if it really hurt you, it never really leaves. So she built a wall. A tall wall, that rose up to the clouds. Built of lies, and false comfort. She didn't want to remember. She didn't want to see the part of her that she used to be. The part pained from the past. She hate looking at it. It was so sad...and vulnerable. And it was her. So on her side of the wall, she saw not was she was, and focused on ahead, trying as hard as possible to forget. But lies can only exist for so long. And slowly, her wall began to crumble. Knowing this, she came to Riften, in search for something to distract her from what was happening. And she stumbled upon Brynjolf. And though he held exactly what she thought she needed, and so much more, he tore down her already crumbling wall. Will Varien be able to near through the side she tried to hide? Will she make it? Was this lie larger than she expected?

Fate had her remain with her father and youngest sister the day the debt collectors came. It was fate that her father let her go. It was fate that gave her a new husband, a new home. It was fate that her younger sister disappeared. It was fate that brought her to her father's estate the day Feyre returned with her new family and asked for help. She hated Fate, but it was fate that lead her to him. This is a fanfiction of ACOTAR I do not own the original characters or plot of the series by S.J. Maas, but my Iyla and the additions she brings to the plot are my own. This story contains graphic depictions of violence, some gore, sexuality, strong language, and/or other mature themes. TW* The story hints upon lack of consent in marital bed and underage marriage (character is 16 when she marries)* TW* domestic abuse is a theme in the first chapters and may be depicted *All images used were plucked from a google search. I don't own a single one.*
