And now with Chase and her new friend Odyesseya, she's prepared to take on the world.
But a full on war wasn't what she expected.
The Darkness is coming, and she's not so sure she's prepared anymore. When a horde of monsters attacks camp, the most deadly of them comes after her, but it's not exactly a monster.
Whoever he is, he's a demigod, not unlike herself. Who is he? Why is he attacking camp?

In JOS I set the rogue and con-artist Harric against a foil of warriors in a land threatened by magic and civil war. Whenever possible I turn familiar tropes on their heads: instead of a handsome young Lancelot, I cast a broken-down ex-champion addicted to pain-killing herbs; instead of a dashing Squire Brian, the old knight reluctantly takes an ambitious young woman as squire. Similarly, I re-imagine the standard medieval milieu by infusing aspects of two of my favorite historical periods, Elizabethan England, and The American Frontier. Both eras boast a kind of nationalistic arrogance that borders on hubris, and a magnificent spirit of resourcefulness and re-invention that is fun to play with. The blood brood pack. She is forced to stay and is made an omega. She still has an escape plan, though it's going to take time to execute. Once the alpha steps down and his son becomes alpha, the command keeping her there will be null and void. Plus with everyone distracted it will be the perfect time to escape. She just has to hope she can make it until then and that she doesn't meet her mate. If she does and he rejects her, all he'll will break loose because that will be the start of it all.
