There is the Inside. And there is the Outside.
On the Inside there are the scientists. They have the technology, the money and the luxury life. They also have control.
On the Outside there is everyone else. They have don't have the money or the luxury life. Only what they have to win from the Inside. Only what the Inside gives them.
And the Inside takes what it wants.
When Rez and thousands of other Outers are taken from an arena owned by the Inners, they don't have a clue what's happening. Only that the Inners have them, and they can do whatever they want with them. They don't know that the Inners think they are the perfect soldiers, for a war they've hidden from the Outside for a long time.
Rez and the others don't have a choice. It's fight or die under the Inner's control. Nothing can stop them from being sent into war.

The year was 2098. I was a spacecraft and jet pilot during an era of relative peace. No robotic apocalypses, no zombie outbreaks, no meteor showers-nothing of the sort. Their so-called charitable mission concealed a darker agenda. I wasn't a member of the military. Instead, I led my own organization-TAF (Terrorist Annihilator Force). Though small in size, we boasted the most seasoned and capable operatives. When the government realized the extent of MP's influence, they turned to us for help. This wasn't just another mission-it was a call to action against the most pervasive terrorist group in history. I'm regarded as the best spacecraft pilot, but this mission will challenge everything I've ever known. In the future, science has found a way to re-animate the dead and make them pliant servants for the wealthy. They buy the units for 10,000 for a base model. More attractive units sell higher as well as the more physically fit the model is the higher the price. The units are used for anything and everything their owner wants, from household work to administrative duties, to even being sexual companions. They are each programmed with a hard drive in their brain that works like a computer and allows them to have a quick mind and agility, as well as nano machines in their body to repair any damage that can occur with normal usage. There are some people who still view the units as a dead body and have trouble interacting with them in their daily life. But most of the population is too poor to even afford one so this problem is left to the upper classes that can buy the units. For some, poverty is worse than death.
