You were always a bit different. This was because you and your father had strange rare abilities. Not quite like magic but instead more spiritual and nature like properties. He had quick reflexes and very strong energy. You had the powers of being a strong empath, and apparently shadow contact? For a long while you've been seeing  shadows at the corners of your eyes dance to and fro. Getting strange shivers and random touches . Soon you hear voices, thinking it was surely your mind playing tricks on you at this point you learned to ignored it. Yet you still always felt watched. Turns out it simply a very curious shadow trapped Soundwave wanting to learn more about you.

Note: This will be a platonic best friend type relationship between the reader and Soundwave. 
This is because reader is around 12-16 . Later reader will grow up and be 18+ But the relationship between the reader and Soundwave will remain romantic strictly platonic. 

Also there is Transformers Prime season 3 spoilers as this is set after that time but before Transformers Robots in Disguise 2015 the sequel . There is mild mention of Preadacons rising but very little so watching the movie is not necessary.

Optimus has a harsh life as the bearer of the matrix and Temptest struggles to be the symbol of freedom she once was. Alongside them, one Megatron works to protect his adopted family while the other tags along, fighting and testing them in hopes he'll find what he lost in his own dimension. The bots imagine that a terrible villain is on the prowl, but struggle to figure out who. Especially when she finds herself wanting to help them get back home. Something he finds himself surprised that she is willing to help him. It is as if something has changed, and he did not know why or how that is possible. And soon enough, his cold exterior may have just fallen away. Or could his processor be mistaken?
