Whitespace

Children see things differently. Adults are taught to see the world 'as it is', Artists are taught to draw what they see, scientists learn to observe, measure and record. But children are different. Look at a child's drawing. They draw what they expect, what they know even if it contradicts their eyes. A child draws people in size proportionate to their importance. They don't draw realism or accuracy; they simply draw their truth. A child doesn't care. They simply draw as they choose, and sometimes, without realizing, they draw something they never saw, like the gap between the sky and the earth.

You can't see it; it's not there. You can't observe or measure it; it doesn't exist. It cannot exist. But it is real. It's the something glimpsed from the corner of your eye and dismissed as a trick of the light, the shape in the shadows you almost saw, bumps in the night and half remembered stories. It's the space between the sky and the earth.

This is the Whitespace. And it's closer than you think.
