Phoenix is a hunter who has trained her entire life to be the best. She is ruthless and doesn't trust anyone. Everyone knows her to be a ruthless hunter with no humanity, but there is more to her than that, not that she lets anyone see her softer side. She protects a young girl during a rogue attack on her pack one day and is captured by the Rosewood pack in the process.
Ares is the alpha of the Rosewood pack. He watches the hunter girl who is supposed to be "ruthless and cruel" be torn apart while protecting a young wolf from his pack. She collapses after his pack eliminates the threat. He brings her to the pack doctor and when he lifted her small form into his arms he was overwhelmed by her amazing scent. This girl is his mate. He knows who she is judging by the abilities she portrayed during her fight but he doesn't care. He knows that she won't accept him easily but he is determined to gain her trust.

I felt the bed dip as he sat down on the other side but I focused solely on my task until I was done. "This is a pillow barrier. Meaning, you don't breach this side of the pillows." I instructed, my voice firm. "What if I don't want anything between us?" Phoenix said in a husky voice, and I risked a glance. Bad choice. His eyes were dark and his gaze was on my lips, to my chest, then back to my lips. "Eyes up here, buddy." I snapped the third time his eyes went down to my chest. All he did was turn off the lights. When it was dark, he whispered," Can't I admire what is mine?" I had no answer, and turned on my side. He sighed. Despite taking two naps today, I was out cold the minute my head hit my pillow. I could only hope that in the morning, the pillow barrier was still there. ***** Adira has a secret, one she would do anything to protect. She's built barriers around her heart, so strong that only the most powerful force could break them down. Adira was an Alpha's daughter, 19 years old, and didn't want a mate. She was too focused on figuring out what her deadly secret meant for her and those she loved. When she discovered her mate was Alpha Phoenix, she was sure the Moon Goddess was trying to punish her. As truths unfold and loyalty is put to the test, her secret comes to light. Those she loves and the ones who would hurt her without a second thought find out, and she finds out a certain Twin has her in his sights. Will she open up to Phoenix? Will he break down her walls? Or will they both drown in truth's untold? (The first book in the Hybrid Series.) #4 in Werewolf #4 in Possessive mate *You may cry, laugh, smile, curse and/or experience mood swings while reading* * Warning: Not as cliche as it first seems:)*
