It happened 30 years ago and had never been revisited again, until now. Katie, after losing her husband, is alone and still raising her sixteen year old daughter Amy. When Amy becomes involved with a local punk, Katie begins to remember someone she hadn't though of in forever who just so happens to share a last name with the boy. The boys dad is single, his wife and him had gotten a divorce after her realizing she was a lesbian. His mother had declared herself mentally unstable after the divorce and killed herself a couple years later, while he was too young to understand. When Amy invited the boy and his father for dinner, everyone's world is changed. Shortly after one major life change, Katie is diagnosed with leukemia and is dying. She writes a letter to her daughter in hopes that it will help her to understand why Katie did what she did. Will Amy be able to forgive her for what she did? Will the past truly change the present? What if time is the only thing you have left?

This story is dedicated to the first guy I ever loved and to the second guy who showed me that while I would never be completely healed, I wouldn't be shattered forever.
