Albert De Luna has moved to a new city the summer before sophomore year, and attends a brand new high school come September. He struggles to find people to connect with, having to cope with the loss of both his mother and his love for art. Yet Albert still forces himself to sculpt, to sketch, to paint-anything to distract from the fact he's lost everything he's ever known. Acrylic, oil, and varnish streak across canvas after canvas, the rough paint strokes outlining his pain and frustration. His secret is kept until Matthew, his section partner in band, stumbles into Albert's disintegrating worldview and sees more of Albert than the cold front he hides under.
Albert just has to learn to let someone else in, and let them join him in the night sky.
