I walked down the sand filled streets, reflected sunglasses hiding which way my eyes drifted. As I got to a street corner I looked both ways before crossing. Casually putting my hands into my pockets I felt for the small metal object. Without hesitating I pushed the button and within a split second I heard the explosion. A devious smile crept to my lips as panic started to rise. Hearing screams and the sound of pounding feet I quickly masked my face into one of fake horror and surprise and followed the stampede of people.  Running away from the growing fire that made me who I was;
 ‘Who am I?’ you ask.

I shouldn't be affected by him, not anymore. "Well you can't have me!" I slapped his hand away, then pushed him causing him to stumble backwards. I then quickly grabbed my purse, and pulled out my taser. I pointed it towards him as I said "get out! GET OUT!" He seemed surprised for a second but then his face relaxed, as a smirk took place on his lips, he took a few steps towards the door then turned and said "Don't worry Jade, I will have you. Whether you want to or not, I will do whatever it takes to it happen. Mark my words Jade Christina Reaves, you will be mine, and that is a promise."

I stumble backwards slightly before a hand wraps around my waist, keeping me from falling. Looking up, I realize this wasn't a wall, but instead a very attractive male. A very messy, but definitely sexy, mop of black hair sat on top of his head. When I looked closer, I realized that it was a deep shade of brown that was probably often mistaken for black. My gaze traveled to his eyes, where I found two deep ocean blue eyes looking at me. I kept going further down to his too crooked nose to be called straight, which I assumed came from too many fights. His skin was tanned, but an olive tone suggested he had a natural darker complexion to begin with. My eyes finally found his pink, very plump lips which were resting slightly open. His lips jerked up into a lopsided sneer as his hand snapped back to his side. The sudden movement left my back cold, as if his palm had been a source of warmth. "You've got to be kidding me!" His tone dripped with disgust. My eyes turned to questioning as I looked back up into his eyes. I brought my hand up to rub my nose, squinting at the slight pain. "What the hell." He grumbled. "I, Jay Julian, reject you as my mate." He, or Jay, said with venom lacing his voice. He quickly turned and walked down the now vacant hallway with no glance back. Rejection? What the hell was that? Was it some sort of local lingo? How did I get rejected on my first day? The first person I make eye contact with at this school rejects me. I guess that's how this school works, if the hottest boy in school rejects you, you're a nobody. If that's how this small town school worked, then I was screwed. So much for making friends, or mates, or whatever they call people in this place. I shake those ocean blue eyes out of my head and continue into the office to start my new life.

I woke up at six at night to a loud alarm I went to the computer and it flashed PLEASE EXIT THE BUILDING IN THE NEXT 5 minuets 37 seconds and it started counting down. The printer was printing off the file I grabbed it, yelled for the twins, and ran to the garage. I opened the garage door and pulled off the cover to reveal a navy-blue Chevy Silverado, but no keys I ran back in to the house and tore apart the bed room until I found them. The clock was at 2 minutes 15 seconds I found the twins asleep on the couch, so I flipped it "what the hell" Jazz screamed "we need to go" I yelled back shoving them to the garage. I jumped in to the front seat and started the engine we were a mile away when we heard the explosion. I guess this is my life now I thought looking at the rising ball of fire in the rear view.

The cops were below, just entering the building to rescue the hostages. "Thank you" I heard one of the hostages say. I turned around to see an older woman. "What is your name?" she asked. I couldn't tell her my real name. I was just an 18 year old girl trying to finish high school. I never expected any of this. I knew that the powers I had were a blessing. A blessing that needed to be protected. I looked to see her waiting for my response. I said the first name that came to my mind. "My name is Atomic Woman " I dove out the ten story building before she could say anything. Just like that, a hero was born.
