It was the last summer before the fifteen year old genius was attending Caltech, but more than that? It was most likely the last summer they would have with her godmother Susannah Fisher. In April she had been woken up in the middle of the night by her phone ringing, picking it up she heard a sobbing Conrad telling her the devastating news that his mother's cancer was back. 

Charlie had never seen Conrad as anything but her best friend. Belly was the most important person to her and she knew how heartbroken she would be if she knew that Charlie might've had a crush on him, Belly had been in love with him since they were ten years old. Belly always thought that she belonged with Conrad and Charlie belonged with Nick.
