Ruby Stone is your average girl—the one who has many friends, good grades, and no one hates her. She’s the type of girl without any problems. Or—that’s what people think. In the group of friends Ruby is part of, the group might seem perfect—with everyone caring about each other and being the perfect, kind friends—when in reality, if people look more closely, they can tell that Ruby is actually a little different. Ruby is shy, a little unconfident sometimes, and also has a lack of social skills when it comes to people outside of her family. That’s what sets her apart from her friends. When things go bad and Ruby meets the “biggest bad-boy” and his crew in school—in some very horrible situations—things start to change for her. But in a good way or a bad way?

Born to be behind the camera, she's suddenly forced to be in the spotlight when she gets an offer to attend a famous arts and science school where the uniform itself gets stares from everyone. Her only motivation to attend is Emiliano Benjamin Tayaban Cruz, the handsome guy with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, that she definitely had a meet cute with. Ever the romantic, Clarke falls hard. And fast. Now she has to get in. In less than a year, she has to make him fall in love with her before he crosses his tassel and walks across the stage and out of her life. But when she finds out there's a ghost haunting his past, does she even stand a chance against someone he can't forget? (And there's also a mysterious senior who's been messaging her all summer that she has to meet before they graduate? But that's the least of her worries.)
