the events that took place in the fall of 1983 made it very clear that hawkins is not a typical town. but owen webb and her friends were tricked into thinking that they were part of a one-time fluke. as the one-year anniversary of will byers' disappearance looms ahead, it has started to become apparent that hawkins' curse runs deeper than they originally thought. 

once again, the fate of the small, midwestern town falls into the hands of its school-aged residents. that is, as soon as owen and steve can finally admit that they actually make a good team.
