Marcella Kiley has been best friends with Dalton and Austin Cleevers since their diaper days but has been oblivious to the fact that both have been madly in love with her since then too.

Even though Dalton has slept with basically the entire female population, smokes pot, has gone to jail four times for fighting and can be the biggest ass ever, he is still her bestfriend.
Now there doesn't even need to be a reason why she would be friends with Austin because hes by far the sweetest guy around. He constantly drives her places, doesn't have a mean bone in his body and doesn't go breaking girls hearts.

Friendships form in weird ways. Friendships also last in different varieties. The fact that Anna and Jakes friendships evolved after Anna punched Jake in preschool for touching her favorite colors is besides the point though. These two have been through so much more than that. Anna was there for him through his mom and dads divorce, and there again after his moms sudden death. Jake was there for Anna through her silly depression over not having any female friends.
