The Underworld and the Surface are separated for many reasons, some of which are easier to understand than others. However, ultimately they all have to do with the Daeces Council, made up of the four most dangerous beings recorded in history: the Lord of Fire, Voltar; the Ice Queen, Arides; the Dark Sovereign, Morgana, and Dante, the Unknown.

The only ones keeping the Council at bay are the invincible Fallen, a mysterious race that never has more than one of their own walking the face of the earth. The last of them is Jagger, perhaps the most powerful of his lineage. But the confrontation that lies ahead will demand much more from him than mere strength and cunning.
