Brighten Walker is an orphan. She's been on the streets since she was seven. That was seven years ago.
Now the young Earthling is fourteen, and trying to adjust to life with her new Jupitarian family, the Lozögs.
She has been beaten, shot at, and arrested more times than she can count. The Lozögs, who have a son roughly Brighten's age, are trying to incorporate Brigh into their home, but Brighten has serious trust issues from her past street life.
