The Plays the Thing
Livy's always been the supporting actress rather than the star of both her real life and the school plays. She thought she was happy living on the sidelines until she's cast as the lead in the school play opposite her step brother's best friend, high-school bad boy Xander Davis. And, I thought how incredibly awkward it would have been for a teenage girl to do all of those scenes if she had been any less self assured and professional than Joey King is. So , I set my story in a high school that was putting on the play the Kissing Booth, and made my own characters with their own insecurities and struggles. 16 year old Danae's life is slowly going downhill with trying to get a job and get into college. His mum doesn't make it any easier though. She's hot headed and is always annoyed at Danae because he looks just like his dad, who his mum has just divorced. His best friend Eden is having problems with her boyfriend and Danae slowly develops feelings for her. They hang out and play video games once a week, which is the highlight of his weeks. He doesn't want to jeopardise his friendship by telling Eden he has romantic feelings for her, until he gives in shortly after their shared kiss. Btw I imagine Danae similar to Cole from the Netflix Series: My Life With The Walter Boys. And I imagine Eden to look like a brunette version of Sarah from Outer Banks.
