Beyond the limits of our knowledge, there is a world hidden deep within the roots of modern society. There walks a people older than mankind, unseen but ever present, whose lineage trace back to the creation of the ether - an energy source that grants them the power to do extraordinary things.

They are called the venandi.

Hazel Labelle is an avid boxer and a pioneer, and she has not lived in one place for more than six months until reaching New York. For four years, she has led relatively normal life with her father, and has finally started calling the city her home. When Hazel is attacked by a mysterious man in a mask during a rebellious one night road trip with her friend, she is unwillingly pulled into the twisted dark world of the venandi. She does not expect however, to discover that her history has long been entwined with the magical folk, and that the peaceful world she had known had been an illusion spun on a past she could not stop running from.
