Everyone knows the story of Veronique Chanteur. She was born in France and then adopted by a respectable English family and brought over to live in Liverpool, UK when she was five years old. From there she grew as a normal child until she was thirteen, at which time she was cast as the lead role in the school musical. While she sung and danced-an aspiring label was coincidentally in the audience and noticed the young girl's potential. Seizing his moment-he plucked up the young creature and turned her into one of the most famous singers there was. Everyone who met Veronique loved her immediately for she possessed a strength and charisma that few do nowadays.
However everyone always has a best friend-at least, i would hope so-and nobody knew the story of Maisie Greene. She was funny and sweet and Veronique's best friend. Most would gush at the thought of being a celebrity's number one-but Maisie didn't for she was one. Well I was one. Hello I'm Maisie and this is my story for I am 'The Background'.

However as they grew older Maisie noticed that no one ever seemed to take note of her. Girls would bypass her in favor of Veronique but more importantly guys would never see her past the magnitude of Veronique's beauty. With her self-esteem plummeting, Maisie wonders if there will ever be someone that will see her?

To start it off she has had another bad relationship... Firstly, it started with her mum, abusing drugs and alcohol which had a massive affect on Hayley. By the age of 15, she was addicted to smoking and weed. Hayley hasn't even seen the verbal, mentally and physically abusive parent since she was 12 and has no idea about her whereabouts. Secondly, she was an elite gymnast, a world All Around champion, unfortunately drugs made her weak causing severe injuries. She got dropped by the Great Britain team and hasn't competed since she was 15 years old. Thirdly, Kyle, her ex boyfriend cheated on her at 17 making her mental health worsen, it does help that her enemy, Chloe is back in London with many fights and arguments that will brew up. Fourthly, she was hospitalised at 18 because she had a near death experience with the illegal substance Cocaine. At this point her dad nearly died. Her last relationship was with Freezy, that didn't last long but that was her proper first love, they loved each other dearly. In fact, she still can sing amazingly, is creative with piercings and an overall genuine girl, despite her anger. Have you ever had one of those terrible yet annoyingly pivotal moments? You know, that monumental fragment of time that flips everything you have ever known. That plot twist second that completely takes you by surprise. The one just before the storm hits and everything goes to hell. Yes? Because you see, that moment happens to be my whole damn life. It wasn't always like this though. I used to have a pretty mundane existence, happy to just get good grades and be around my friends. God I wish I could get that simplicity back, I'd never complain it was boring again. But I know I'm not going to ever get back my old life because well... I died. (Kinda) But I woke up. And I was thrilled, beyond grateful I wasn't dead. But then I realized that there was one minor detail that had changed about my reality. I was given the chance to live but it turns out I woke up as the villainess in an otome game my friend used to be obsessed with - Kingdom of freaking Hearts (I added the freaking in there for effect, it's just Kingdom of Hearts) Where, for the record, the villainess only has two possible endings 1) execution and 2) getting exiled. So Fate was like, "Don't worry, I'll save you. Here's a chance to live" and then was like "psyche, screw you. You're still going to die but I'll let you suffer a little first." So now, if only to annoy Fate by proving it wrong, I am determined to survive.
