Jensen St. Clair is an elusive enigma. Or so she thinks. With summer in Seattle winding down, Jensen is keen to kick off her junior year at Claremont University with as minimal chaos as possible to compensate for her post-breakup antics last academic year.

But between balancing social events, her double-major, and co-parenting a corgi, it seems the actual elusive enigma is soccer team star Tatum Wolff. Tatum's seemingly rogue comings and goings don't bother Jensen. Or so she thinks. So when she catches herself looking for him at parties and dinner gatherings with her regular social circle, she can't help but wonder if there's a silver lining to her collegiate chaos.

"'Bye.' I say after Edwin's kiss. He gives me a small smile that honestly looks more like a grimace. It makes me a little uncomfortable having him kiss me in the library. Edwin walks away, and someone standing in the corner of my vision makes me turn in my seat. A tall, muscular man is standing there, his arms crossed, staring at me. He's got dark brown hair, perfect eyebrows, and soft brown eyes. Honestly, he's gorgeous. And since I've read, and edited, about five articles about him, I recognize him immediately. Dane Sawyer. He's the best pitcher on our baseball team. He's hoping to go pro, although I'm not totally sure what the process is surrounding that, since I don't retain much of the information from the articles that I read about him. I know that he's also a junior, and that his girlfriend is hot as fuck. I've seen them together on campus. They're hard to miss because they are easily one of the most attractive couples that I've ever seen. I'm convinced that I must be hallucinating, because he makes eye contact and walks towards me. 'That was awkward.'" ~~~ Junior year is starting off chaotic for Mackenzie Brooks as she steps into her role as the editor-in-chief of the college's newspaper. She's smart, focused on school, the paper, and her TA responsibilities. Junior year should be starting off easy for Dane Sawyer. He's the star pitcher of the baseball team; attractive, athletic, desirable, with a hot girlfriend. Unfortunately, he's also failing computer science which is the one thing he sees that is in the way of his pro career. Different in more ways that one, when the two run into each other in the library, it's an immediate disaster. But when Dane convinces Mackenzie to be his tutor, both of their lives begin to change.

River Scott is 23 and searching for a sense of peace she's been missing. After ten years of living in Boston with her mom, she's returned to her coastal hometown of Bar Harbor, Maine, for one last unforgettable summer. With her head full of childhood memories and her heart set on reconnecting with old friends, River is determined to recapture the magic of simpler times. Enter Leo-the charming, unpredictable frat guy who makes it impossible for River to keep her walls up. With his laid-back confidence, easy banter, and genuine kindness, he pulls her into moments of joy and spontaneity, reminding her what it feels like to be truly alive. But River isn't looking for something serious. She's keeping her heart guarded, convinced that this summer has an expiration date, and so does whatever this thing is with Leo. As River navigates the delicate balance between falling for someone and keeping her distance, she's forced to confront what it really means to live in the moment. Can she protect herself from getting hurt, or will she let her heart lead her into the unknown?
