Mike had missed Will since the day he left. So he wrote him a letter, but he got too carried away. He'd never send it. Unspoken words turning into unread letters became a tradition every day until Mike saw Will again. Now it was spoken lies turned into readable body language. And Mike felt more vulnerable than he ever had before. (Art credit for cover to alvrudart on Tumbler)

It was the start of the early 90's, when everything was over, when death and destruction took its toll, leaving scars and deep fissures in its wake. But, at least, it brought a sense of renewal, of an escape from all the horrors they went through and, for the first time in so long, they could finally start to move on. That was, if they ever could. El was gone, both Mike and Will spent years apart healing, lives separate and away from Hawkins and each other without any plans for reconnection. Until, they met again in college. By chance, a mere coincidence. And maybe there they could have another chance, too.
